We’re delighted to announce that Circular Dress Collaborative is one of the first social enterprises in Ireland to secure People & Planet First Verification.
What does this mean?
People & Planet First is a robust verification mark for social enterprises which is recognised globally and adopted in 130+ counties.
The verification focuses on five core standards:
Purpose: We exist to solve a social and/or environmental problem: Ours is landfill waste,overconsumption and combatting poor labour practices
Operations: We prioritise purpose, people and planet over profit in operational decisions: We do this through our fashion consignment efforts and our TUS back to work employment scheme.
Revenue: We have a self-sustaining revenue model: All our processes are reviewed and refreshed to generate the best results
Use of surplus: We reinvest the majority of any surplus towards our purpose: The reinvestment is through extending the life of garments, the taking in of garments and repurpose and repair of items in need of extra care.
Structure: We choose legal structures and financing that protect and lock-in purpose long-term: Our Governance is of utmost importance.

Now we need every woman to embrace pre-loved fashion. Why not? Men rent suits all the time — yet women are still bombarded with influencer culture and consumer-driven marketing. Fast fashion is everywhere, and honestly? Mainstream retail has never looked so bland and samey.

Our first step to helping the community is through students. Students are the gateway to our sustainable future, and farther advanced in spreading the messages of sustainability. With vast knowledge, we will provide our youth with skills to further advance their creative and environmental capabilities.
We are empowering the women of our community to make better climate-friendly consumer choices by offering pre-loved top-quality labels with the opportunity to be sellers as well through consignment.
In the following months, we will be offering sewing, art and fun events to provide a safe space to create & laugh together.
Additionally, we will take in women in the back-to-work scheme to provide customer service and inventory control skills.
Lastly, we will collaborate with all the great groups and individuals who are already making a difference in our world and hopefully pass it on to everyone who cares to be involved.
This is a Letterkenny hub that is the brainchild of a woman, born of a single mother, who is a mother and has a strong desire to help other women who may feel marginalised, unheard, lost or maybe even terrific. Together we can be a force!
